The Lake Tellico Challenge
The Lake Tellico Challenge is an annual tournament held between members of the MGA of Tellico Village and members of the MGA of Rarity Bay. It is a Ryder Cup style tournament played over two days early in October with one day at one of the Tellico Village courses and one day at Rarity Bay.
During the tournament there are four nine-hole matches played, Four ball, Foursomes (modified), Scrambles and Individual. In order to keep the matches close, members for the Tellico Village team are matched with members of the Rarity Bay team by handicap index.
Each year the winning team keeps the traveling trophy and has their club and year added to one of the plates at the bottom of the trophy.
In 2018 the winning team was Rarity Bay. Tellico Village last won the cup outright in 2012, and tied Rarity Bay in 2017.
Selection of members for the 2019 team will begin with MGA play in March and will include the Major Tournaments played during the year.
